An HOA Wants to Gas Hundreds of Geese to Death. Stop This Cruel and Ineffective Plan.

Hundreds of Canada geese living at a community lake in Alabama could soon be rounded up, loaded into trailers, and killed in gas chambers. The shocking plan was approved by a homeowners association (HOA), which claims the birds have become a nuisance.

But there is one major problem: the same community already killed geese in 2020 – and it didn't solve anything. A new flock simply moved in. If slaughter didn't work before, why are we repeating it again?

Sign the petition to demand humane, science-based alternatives instead of killing hundreds of protected birds.

Residents, animal advocates, and even members of the HOA board have spoken out against the plan. One board member described how the geese would reportedly be captured in nets, loaded into trailers, and gassed to death. Others point out that families have peacefully coexisted with these birds for years and question whether the alleged problems justify mass killing.

Even animal welfare organizations note that culling geese often provides only temporary results because suitable habitat remains and new birds move in. This doesn't have to happen.

Wildlife experts have developed nonlethal management tools that can help control goose populations without resorting to mass extermination. Decisions affecting native wildlife should be guided by science and humane practices – not by an HOA looking for a quick fix.

Sign the petition now to urge officials to stop this planned cull and require humane, effective wildlife management instead.
