While the world is dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, the United States government has been quietly trying to put an end on encryption.
The bill is meant to end child predation. The bill threatens to crumble established protections against holding tech companies (ex: Google, Facebook, Snap).
While this could lower serious crimes, this is a serious invasion of privacy. The government would see all your text messages. Americans should have a right to privacy and discussion without consequences. This will most likely start Americans to fear of speaking their mind.
Proven by the Patriot Act, the majority of people getting caught for doing illegal activities online would be insignificant. The EARN IT Act isn't worth it to invade everyone's privacy.
