Keep Mr. Everton Henriques at HHHS

  • by: Stanojka Lipovac
  • recipient: Hendrick Hudson School District Board of Education

We, the undersigned parents, were appalled to hear that Mr. Everton Henriques will not be teaching at HHHS after June 30 2014. We feel that this decision was contrived and we urge (demand) that it be reversed.

Mr. Henriques is a committed, patient, knowledgeable, nurturing, and innovative teacher. His college level courses are challenging, informative, entertaining, and beneficial to his students’ academic and personal growth. His compassion and willingness to help any student, whether it be with an academic reason or a personal issue, is extraordinary and it should be an example to other teachers. His departure will be detrimental to our children’s education and will deprive future generations of exceptional learning experience and a truly great teacher. Any reason to cause his termination does not outweigh what he has done for this district so far and what he would contribute in the future.

Update #29 years ago
We met with the Superintendent today. He tried in many ways to talk us out of coming to the board meeting, but we promised to be there along with others who are interested in keeping good teachers in the school district. We need to stand up for our children’s education but also for values of our homes. Join us on Wednesday 6/25 at 7PM in the HHHS library; bring your spouses, children, friends. We have a better chance of achieving our goal if we show up in large numbers and make a good argument.
