The death toll in the Indian state of Kerala rises yet again - 13. Lakshmi; aged about 5 died at 3AM this morning in Konni Forest Department Camp suspected of Herpes. Lakshmi was brought in from Kottoor forest range apparently "abandoned" by her herd.

The condition of the elephants in the camp are pitiable. All of them are starving and one of the young calves - a bull of 5 yrs looks like has been blinded in its left eye. There are three other calves a male of 6 months who looks sick and a female of 8 months and a very tiny baby. They are kept in a small open pen in the hot sun, next to the road, exposed to the traffic dust, etc.

THESE BABIES NEED IMMEDIATE RESCUE, MEDICAL TREATMENT AND FREED TO A SANCTUARY!
