DEMAND AURORA, IL ELIMINATE RENTAL INSPECTIONS FOR VIOLATING TENANT FOURTH AMENDMENT RIGHTS!

City of Aurora, IL is forcing tenants of rental property to open their doors to the Dept. of Property Standards to look for issues within the home and violating the privacy of the tenant WITHOUT A SEARCH WARRANT.

City of Aurora, IL recently restructured their fees for the continued inspection of property and it's creating burdensome conditions for tenants. Furthermore, the City of Aurora is forcing tenants to open the doors to their home based upon a time/date that is suitable to the City Inspector - not to the tenant.

We believe that this steps above, what is deemed appropriate, for public safety as is violating Fourth Amendment rights of tenants as the City is forcing entry to homes without a justifiable warrant.

SIGN OUR PETITION TODAY AND TELL THE CITY OF AURORA TO STOP ENTERING HOMES WITHOUT CONSENT OF THE TENANT!

Dear Aurora City Council,

Here within, find the names and signatures of those tenants and Aurora, IL citizens that believe that the City of Aurora, IL has over-stepped their boundaries and have violated the privacy and Fourth Amendment rights of tenants that are being required to open the door of their home for the benefit of the Division of Property Standards.

It is our belief that rental inspections are UNNECESSARY and violate the privacy of all tenants that are required to adhere to these inspections set forth by the Division of Property Standards.

We ask that you TERMINATE rental inspections as a necessary part of the Crime Free Rental Ordinance and only require inspections of rental property with the appropriate warrant.

Thank your for your cooperation in this matter.

Regards -

Big thanks to all of you for supporting our petition!

We are working with the Institute for Justice but need your help. We need tenants, who rent in the City of Aurora, to reach out to us if they feel the City of Aurora city inspectors have VIOLATED THEIR PRIVACY RIGHTS.

What this means is getting these tenants in touch with the Institute for Justice to tell their story and STOP these Fourth Amendment violations.

Share our petition with those who think will need our help! Thanks!
