Save the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier

The USS Enterprise was America's first Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carrier...  The Enterprise is an iconic name and symbol of the United States and should not be scrapped like a bag of tin cans...  The Enterprised entered service and was launched on the 24th of September in 1960...  On the 1st of December of 2012 the Enterprise was officially deemed Inactive and is slated for Decomissioning by March of 2013...

The Department of Defense feels that the costs of dismantling the Nuclear Reactors to make the ship safe and secure enough to turn it into a Museum is too great...  By signing this Petition you show that you Disagree and feel that NOT turning it into a Museum is an even greater loss...

Please help save the Enterprise, it deserves t be remembered and honored...

Dear President Obama, Members of Congress, and other Government Officials,

We The People feel that the USS Enterprise should be saved and converted into a Museum for future generations to enjoy and honor its service to assuring America's freedoms and liberties...  Scrapping the Enterprise as if it were a bag of tin cans is just unacceptable to the American People...  Yes we understand the costs involved in converting the great ship, but we also feel it is worth it...

The "Big E" served this country for over half a century and deserves to be remembered and honored...  Many sailors have called the Enterprise home...  As you can see by the amount of signatures we have, we feel it's only right that this get the proper attention it deserves and we feel that you should hear and listen to the American people on this matter...

Thank you for your time and attention regarding the Enterprise...  We know you'll do the right thing...
