Guns and Children

My name is Tammy Holt and I have spent many years fighting for our wildlife and was an animal cruelty investigator for Nashville TN.  This picture should speak more words than I ever can. This is what the Tennessee government does, it allows children as young as 5 to carry high powered weapons including rifles and handguns as long as they are center fire ammo. According to the TWRA handbook, at 10 yrs. of age you must attend a hunting safety class but not at the age of 4,5,6,7,8, or 9. See photos like this one at facebook.com/tammyleegunsandchildren. The most recent one was the 5 yr old which was printed by the  Stewart Houston CO. Times on Jan. 1, 2013. What a way to start out a new year. Do we really want to hand guns to our kids and teach them to kill at this age or any other?

 

This investigator spoke with Walter Cook (director) of Tennessee Wildlife Agency this am and his response was that "there is no minimum age in the state of TN for a child to hunt with a high powered rifle, crossbow or other weapon as long as they are with an adult". Someone please tell me what adult in their right mind would hand a weapon to a 5 yr. old! As of yet I have no comment from the Governors office.

 

I have lived here all my life folks and I have fought for these animals all my life and I am sick to death of these people not only teaching their children to kill at such an early age, or any age for that matter, but handing them high powered weapons and rilfles has got to be stopped. These children are too young to buy a gun or register it but it is legal for a parent ot hand them one to kill in the state of Tennessee as long as an adult is with them! Twra will actually sell hunting licenses to children from under 3 yrs of age to 65 and older! This comes from their handbook page 8.

 

This is what the good ole boys in the state of Tn.do: They put guns in the hands of children as young as 5 and teach them to kill!

We must join together, animal groups and gun control groups & put a stop to this! How many more animals and children are going to die. you must battle the guns down here where its the good ole boy system and anything goes. please forward this to any group u know. I am tired of fightin this crap here where its in vain, Iam taking this to DC or whereever I need to go But I need as much support as I can get.
