Cynthia Menges, President of the Delta Zeta national office, was negligent in responding to the applicants of potential new chapter house, and never sent the application documents. Upon receipt of a letter in June 2013, and realizing there was an objection, they stopped saying they are an applicant to be a DZ chapter, and switched to a new name, Delta Nu, settling the matter.
Cynthia has wasted thousands of dollars in precious dues from the sisters on a fruitless "copyright violation" law suit with an expensive attorney. Any judge will tell Cynthia "You already got what you want. They are not using the name DZ. No harm done. Case dismissed." This petition asks for a listing and justification of the costs she has spent so far, and an objective analysis of the potential benefit for Delta Zeta sisters, if any.
Cynthia has destroyed any interest in re-enlivening the Delta Zeta chapter, or any Greek fraternity or sorority, on the campus. Cynthia puts DZ in a bad light, looking like a litigious, greedy, well...bitch. This does not set a good example for the sisterhood.
There is no benefit to anyone that can come from the law suit - except for the lawyer. The domain name in question has already been turned over. (Brian convinced Cynthia it is worth $200000). All conditions have been satisfied promptly by the residents, such as removing DZ items from the house, not advertising the house as a Delta Zeta, and a letter to the university that it is not a DZ chapter.
So Delta Zeta sisterhood will never be able to recover a penny from this law suit, even IF a judge does not dismiss it, and sides with the attorney. A judgment in court does not ensure that an appeal does not overturn it (costing even more fees), or a way to collect the funds. The DZ sisters will be left holding the bag for the bill.
There was no mal-intent by the ladies or owners of the house. There was no loss to DZ. These are necessary to get a conviction by a judge. No harm, no case. There will only be thousands in attorney fees, probably over $5000 by now. This money could be put to better use, or to lower the dues.
Students have enough expenses, job uncertainty, and student loans without wasting our dues. The DZ sisters call for an audit of the expenses that Cynthia has spent so far on this fruitless endeavor. The only one who will benefit is Brian and his law firm. If he is not paid, surely he will sue the DZ sisterhood for what he wants.
We ask that Cynthia cut the losses, and stop wasting money and precious sorority dues on her friend the attorney for something that does not truly benefit the sorority.
Cynthia's behavior hurts the growth of DZ to more campuses. Who is going to want to get invoved with such a litigious sorority, that won't respond to applications, then sues them for trying to apply?
Audit Cynthia Menges' activities. What else has she wasted dues on?
Why is Cindy getting Delta Zeta involved in expensive and preventable law suits? Her mishandling of the scandal at DePauw University comes to mind. Women were kicked out of DZ because they were not pretty enough.

Some Delta Zeta sisters have had enough and are saying "Impeach President Menges".
Please contact the office and ask her to focus on things that will benefit the sisters of Delta Zeta.

Cynthia Menges, President of the Delta Zeta national office, was negligent in responding to the applicants of potential new chapter house. A greedy attorney has convinced her that if students wear a T shirt with DZ on it, and photos of them are fond on the web, that constitutes "copyright infringement" (which it is not) and made a federal case out of it (literally). He convinced her that domain names (which have already been turned over) were worth $100000 each (ridiculous). He has billed Delta Zeta thousands of dollars in precious due from the sisters on a fruitless law suit with this expensive attorney. This petition asks for a listing of the costs she has spent, and an objective analysis of the potential benefit for Delta Zeta sisters, if any.
