Don’t Abandon Our Wounded Airmen: Restore AFW2 Funding Now

The Air Force Wounded Warrior Program (AFW2) exists to support Airmen who were wounded, ill, or injured during their service to our country. These men and women often face long recoveries, medical challenges, career disruptions, and financial hardship after their service-related injuries. AFW2 has been a critical program that connects them and their families with recovery care, career support, adaptive sports programs, and long-term assistance to help them rebuild their lives.

Recent federal budget cuts totaling billions of dollars have eliminated funding for AFW2 and several other military support programs. Cutting a program that directly supports wounded Airmen sends a troubling message to the service members who sacrificed their health while serving our nation. Programs like AFW2 are not wasteful spending; they are a commitment to the people who put their lives on the line for the United States.

We call on Congress, the Department of Defense, and Air Force leadership to immediately review these cuts and restore full funding to the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program. Our wounded Airmen and their families deserve continued access to the resources, support, and opportunities that AFW2 provides. Restoring this funding ensures that those who served and sacrificed for our country are not left behind.
