I have been an Amino user for years now since 2017, and me along with countless users have noticed the decline the app has had ever since the MediaLab's acquisition of Amino back in 2021.
ever since then, the app has been left to rot, with many employees getting laid off with no warnings to bugs and bots plaguing the platform, which has caused a massive outrage from the users.
Amino has been a huge popular app for YEARS especially in fandom spaces along with Tumblr. that's where their company "Automattic" comes into play, as me and many users believe that them buying the app would be beneficial for both parties.
recently, there has been a huge resurgence of the nostalgic aesthetic of the years 2016-2019. as many users has been reviving trends from said years and migrating back to old platforms such as Tumblr to relive that simple era of their life, and Tumblr is very aware of that as their marketing strategy has been revolved around catering to these people. and we think Amino would be a great fit for this movement, as it will benefit the company while also keeping the already existing users that are holding onto the app.
there isn't any other app like Amino, it's a very unique app where users meet people with the same interests as them and it is managed by community leaders (Administrators) and curators (Moderators), it's essentially an app managed by it's own users.
The app isn't expensive as the company MediaLab abandoned it and we, the users, believe it would fit Automattic's portfolio.
