Petition to Keep Goats in Rural/Suburban Areas

In New Paltz and the surrounding areas, there is a large amount of poison ivy, large enough to pose a health risk. Fortunately, goats are immune to the effects of poison ivy, and are natural brush clearers. Many communities already use goats for this purpose.
We are proposing that people within New Paltz keep goats within groups, as a shared responsibility. A group will share ownership and take turns with the daily care of the goats(usually 1 goat and a companion are necessary to reduce anxiety).
In addition to clearing brush, goats also produce milk that is actually healthier than cow's milk, and their manure is very good for composting and fertilizer.

We would like to know whether you agree with our proposal, would you be willing to have a goat?

Please tell us your thoughts and reactions!

If you would like to know more feel free to ask.
