Reform Senate Rule XXII on filibuster on day 1 of the new session

  • by: James Johnston
  • recipient: To stop the obstruction of the past 4 years resulting from the abuse of the filibuster rule

While the filibuster rule is designed to protect the rights of the minority in the United States Senate, it was never designed to be a weapon of mass obstruction. The Senate can change the filibuster rule on day one of the new session with a simple majority vote. The time for that kind of change is now. There is work that desperately needs to be done on behalf of the American people and we, the people, are tired of the petty partisian politics that is blocking that work from completion. Senator Reid, as majority leader, it is your job to see that this obstruction is ended immediately. Please do what is right for the people of this country. Above all our rights need to be protected.
