Lifeguard Shortage

As a professional lifeguard author, I have traveled all over the world, visiting beaches and addressing the multitude of issues people face concerning water safety. The shortage of trained lifeguards is a pressing problem that puts many lives at risk every day. The presence of skilled lifeguards is not just a necessity but a matter of life and death in ensuring the safety of swimmers, especially children.

The American Lifeguard Association (ALA) has been at the forefront of tackling this issue head-on by enhancing lifeguard and water safety training programs. They have been instrumental in advocating for higher training standards and are tirelessly working to increase the number of certified lifeguards across the country. Despite these efforts, the demand for trained lifeguards remains unmet, with many beaches and pools operating with insufficient staff, especially during peak seasons.
