BROOKLYN PARK, MN. Kendrea Johnson's biological mother came to the attention of authorities in May 2013, when her newborn son was born addicted to drugs. In January 2014, after repeated failures to comply with the county's safety plan, the court placed Kendrea and her brother in foster care.

December 27, 2014. Six year old Kendrea Johnson was found hanging from her bunk bed. The noose had been fashioned out of her jump rope. Prior to her death, multiple calls had been made to local officials to report abuse and neglect. The foster care provider's license has since been suspended.

In January, despite the fact that no clear finding has been made as to how Kendrea died, the Brooklyn Park Police have closed her case. They claim to believe her death was due to "suicide or accident"; this despite documentation that they did not believe "a 6-year-old was capable of tying such a sophisticated knot with a jump rope".

Kendrea's family deserves to have an answer as to how and why this little girl died in such tragic circumstances. If her death was due to foul play, Kendrea and her loved ones deserve justice!
