So many people have a false knowledge as to how animals should be treated and so often believe that they deserve to be treated as objects of abuse and cruelty.  This is so often true when it comes to the beautiful, majestic elephant that frequently falls into the hands of abusers with one vision in mind; money and profits!

Suraj is an elephant in India that has been living a life of despair most of its 45 years after being captured as a youngster.  It is believed that he lost his entire left ear as a result of that capture.  The Wildlife SOS India is an organization that has stepped in to try and save this animal from continual abuse and cruelty.  They found him standing in a dark room in his own excrements where he is believed to have remained for many years.  You can read the full story of Suraj at http://www.onegreenplanet.org/news/save-suraj-the-captive-one-eared elephant/?utm_source=Green+Monster+Mailing+List&utm_campaign=9b2ef3fd4fNEWSLETTER_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bbf62ddf349b2ef3fd4f106313157

Suraj was sorely mistreated for so many years, with many injuries that have never been attended to by a veterinarian.  With help from the Wildlife SOS India, Suraj finally received the medical attention he needed with the vet noting the many injuries the poor animal has endured for so many years, including those that appeared to be wounds from bull hooks, along with parasite infestation, painful cracked toenails, multiple infections and foot rot, just to name a few issues.  This poor animal needs to find a better safer home ASAP.

Although Wildlife SOS is making every effort to get this animal a better, safer home, there are some technical issues involved and our effort in this petition is to encourage India Government officials to step up and ensure they be diligent in getting Suraj removed from this abusive environment and be placed in a healthy, safe and reputable sanctuary to live out the remainder of his days with proper love, comfort and care.  You can help us in our efforts by signing and sharing this petition.  Suraj needs your help and voices be heard in saving him.

Indian Government, President Pranab Mukherjee – We strongly urge you to support the Wildlife SOS India organization in their efforts to remove Suraj from his current abusive home and have him placed in a safe, healthy and reputable sanctuary.  This animal needs and deserves to spend the remainder of its years living in comfort, love and proper care.  Please be diligent in ensuring that this animal, Suraj is immediately moved to a happier, healthier home!
