PSTD should be recognized by Worker's Compenstation and fully covered same as a Physical Injury

My name is Thomas Bean and I was a Police Officer that responded to the Sandy Hook School Shootings. Since then I have been diagnosed with PTSD and unable to return to work as a Police Officer. Current Worker's Comp laws do not cover PTSD as a work related injury, which revictimizes first responders (law enforcement, EMS, military, fire personell, and any other person exposed to a traumatic event - example teachers) after the incident, because medical bills are a struggle to get paid and loss of income and the ability to support their families. They now have to worry about paying the bills on top of trying to heal and deal the events that traumatized them. I am one of those people and believe that those who give for the safety and well being of their communities and country should not be penalized for doing their job. I have reached out to several Politcians, including the President, and have only received a reply that basically said they are not going to do anything. It is time to change these laws so that our countries finest can go work and know if something happens, that they will be taken care of. Please sign this petition so I can start making a change for the better.

Remember as some local or state laws may be changing we need to make change on the National Level, so that no one is uncovered.
