Presentation of MCM Trophy

The Port Neches-Groves Superintendent and School Board made a decision, out of concern for our kid's safety, to present the Mid-County Madness trophy to the winning team the week after the iconic game. While we, as parents, are very concerned about our children's safety, we believe we can find a solution that will enable our kids to enjoy the trophy the night of the victory, allow the parents to watch the presentation and ensure the safety of our kids. Our solution would be to only allow the football teams and coaches on the field after the game and during the ceremony. While all student organizations participated in the support of both football (Port Neches-Groves and Nederland) programs, as a way to compromise, they would understand that, in this instance only coaches and players be on the field after the game.

UPDATE:  I spoke with Superintendent Dr. Mike Gonzales this morning (11-8-18).  He says there will not be a compromise considered regarding his decision.  He states his concern is for safety reasons.  Please share this petition so that Dr. Gonzales can see that both the communities of Nederland and Port Neches-Groves feel very strongly about this tradition and wish he would reconsider his decision.
