Pledge to Choose Cage-Free Eggs

A new video from the HSUS reveals the shocking truth about our country's egg farms: that the pristine American farm we love to imagine is largely inaccurate.

The video reveals footage from four Iowa factory farms -- owned by two of America's largest egg producers -- and the hellish existence of these plants' chickens. Ninety-five percent of American hens endure a similarly pathetic existence.

At one of these exposed farms:
* the hens' wings, necks, legs and feet were tangled in their wire cages;
* the birds had abscesses that forced their eyes to close and beaks to swell;
* and rather than euthanizing these sick, suffering animals, the farm workers returned them to their cages.

Many more monstrosities are shown in the video, which you can see here.
We must send a message to our nation's egg suppliers. A cage-free life gives hens a chance to walk, spread their wings, and lay eggs in nests -- things hens in battery cages only dream of. Tell America's egg-producing farmers that we won't stand for this treatment: if you do choose to buy eggs, pledge to choose cage-free.
