All Children Deserve a Name and a Voice

Sometimes, a successful start to life is as simple as a certificate.

Without a birth certificate, children may lack access to services like health care and education. The problem is especially acute for girls, who often already struggle for the recognition and support they need to thrive.

Not having a birth certificate can restrict girls' rights to health, education, political participation, mobility, economic security and justice.

A recent Plan study estimates that 51 million babies are not registered at birth each year.

A birth certificate provides legal armour: proof of existence, and protection against child trafficking and abuse.

As part of its Universal Birth Registration campaign, Plan is calling for every child in the world to be registered, as a major step in ensuring children can access their basic rights.

Join with Plan Canada today in support of the Universal Birth Registration campaign. Together we can ensure all children have access to this simple human right.
