Tell the Senate: Vote NO on the SAVE Act!

The SAVE Act would fundamentally change the way that eligible Americans can participate in our elections. We cannot allow this disastrous legislation to strip away the voices of so many voters at such a critical time.

Join the League of Women Voters as we call on the Senate to oppose the SAVE Act

Americans do not need MORE obstacles to vote. The provisions within this bill do nothing to make elections safer, while all but guaranteeing that millions of people — including people who have changed their names, like the vast majority of married women in the US — will have a harder time making their voice heard at the ballot.

For more than a century, the League of Women Voters has worked to expand access to the ballot and defend our democratic process. We know a bad bill when we see one.

Join us as we call on our members of Congress to stop this disastrous bill before millions of voters lose their rights. Sign today and tell your senator: Vote NO on the SAVE Act!
As your constituent, I implore you to vote No on the SAVE Act, as an effort to require citizenship documentation to register to vote and a photo ID to cast a ballot. Voters in every state are already required to affirm or verify their citizenship status when registering.

It is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections. Additionally, state election officials ban non-citizen voting in all state elections and have systems to verify an individual voter's eligibility and ensure that voter rolls are accurate. The bill's requirement of a document to prove American citizenship to register to vote in federal elections is unnecessary and creates yet another barrier to voting.

Please vote No on the SAVE Act to ensure that every eligible US citizen has the freedom to vote unimpeded by discriminatory rules rooted in fear and division.
