$4 Billion in Big Oil Tax Breaks is Not "Paying Their Fair Share"

Michigan Republican Dan Benishek thinks that Big Oil "pays their fair share." He's not basing that statement on reality, though. In 2011 alone Big Oil companies received at least $4 billion in tax breaks, all while reporting record profits.

One explanation for Representative Benishek's outrageous statement might be the $45,850 in campaign contributions he received from the oil and gas industry.

While representatives like Dan Benishek rake in campaign contributions from Big Oil, and vote to protect massive tax breaks for the wildly profitable industry, average Americans struggle to pay their bills, keep food on the table, and even buy the gas they need to get to work.

We're lining Big Oil's pockets, while Big Oil pays for Congress to vote in their best interest instead of ours.

Enough is enough. Tell Representative Benishek and his Republican colleagues that the taxes we pay should go to help the American people, NOT Big Oil!
Dear [Representative],

Representative Dan Benishek recently said that Big Oil "pays their fair share," a confusing statement when, in 2011 they received $4 billion in tax breaks all while reporting record profits.

We're facing difficult economic times, with American families everywhere struggling to pay their bills and keep food on the tables. But we keep giving huge tax breaks to Big Oil while vital programs like Medicare and Social Security end up on the chopping block.

Please, vote for our interests, not Big Oil's!
