Click to donate for The Elephant Sanctuary

We would like to see a daily click to donate for The Elephant Sanctuary ( in Hohenwald, TN) added to Care2Connect

As there are many supporters of The Elephant Sanctuary on Care2Connect, we are in favor of a new daily click to donate that would directly benefit the sanctuary, a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization. Sanctuary founder and executive director, Carol Buckley has stated that she supports this idea.

The Elephant
Sanctuary in Tennessee
,
founded in 1995, is the nation's single natural habitat refuge
developed specifically for endangered African and Asian elephants. It
operates on 2,700 acres in Hohenwald, Tennessee - 85 miles southwest of
Nashville.

The Elephant Sanctuary exists for two reasons:

To
provide a haven for old, sick or needy elephants in a setting of green
pastures, old-growth forests, spring-fed ponds and a heated barn for
cold winter nights.

To provide education about the
crisis facing these social, sensitive, passionately intense, playful,
complex, exceedingly intelligent and endangered creatures.

The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee, is the nation's
largest natural-habitat refuge developed specifically to meet the needs
of endangered elephants. It is a non-profit organization, licensed by
the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources
Agency, designed specifically for old, sick or needy elephants who have
been retired from zoos and circuses. Utilizing more than 2700 acres, it
provides two separate and  protected, natural habitat environments for
Asian and African elephants. Our residents are not required to perform
or entertain for the public; instead, they are encouraged to live like
elephants.

Phil Snyder, regional director of the Humane Society of the United
States has stated, "The Elephant Sanctuary represents the future
of enlightened captive elephant management."

Let's help the elephants!
