More Funding for Public Transportation

  • by: Michael Barth

More funding is necessary for public transportation in the State of Illinois, especially in the Chicagoland area.  We need more money for public transportation so that public transportation now and in the future can continue to operate without major fare hikes or operating with old and debilated equipment.  Funding should also include money to fund more public transportation on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and all holidays and more frequent service.  More funding today will help bring in more riders via more routes run, newer equipment, and more frequent service.  By funding public transportation, the state will be able to keep more vehicles off the road and help reduce our oil dependence.
