Apparently Donald Trump wasn't satisfied with just launching stupid regular wars, so he's now back to launching stupid trade wars as well.
How stupid?
So stupid that he made his top target Canada: our closest friend and ally on Earth, and a trading partner so closely integrated with our economy that the move is guaranteed to cause as much pain and disruption per dollar as possible.
Higher prices. Job losses. Recession risk. We could get it all.
Even the conservative Wall Street Journal Editorial Board crowned it the new "dumbest trade war in history."
"President Trump took exception last year when we called his tariffs against Canada and Mexico the dumbest trade war in history," the board wrote.
"It got dumber this weekend as Mr. Trump escalated with another round of border taxes on Canadian imports, a mere 10 weeks before midterm elections."
Trump has already dragged us into a seemingly endless war with Iran, and now he's doubling down by tearing apart the world economy as well.
He needs to hear from everyone on this, across the political spectrum.
If we don't stop him now, who knows what other kinds of wars he might discover and launch.
