Alaska - Ensure Stricter Penalties for All Animal Abuse and Cruelty

Penalties for animal abuse, cruelty and neglect has gotten a little more stringent in recent years but through investigations state-by-state, each offense comes with minor variations.  Many forms of intentional cruelty against a defenseless animal is not taken as seriously as feasible. There was a time when it was thought that animal cruelty was a minor misdemeanor but at least escalated somewhat to a felony – in some instances. Such is the case in Alaska and you can read more on their animal cruelty laws, charges and penalties at http://old-www.legis.state.ak.us/cgi-bin/folioisa.dll/stattx01/query=*/doc/{@3919  & http://www.straypetadvocacy.org/html/cruelty_laws.html

It needs to be common knowledge that abusing any animal in any manner is cruel and unjust.  Such knowledge should be taught in everyone’s home so that people learn in their youth how to love, care for and respect an animal.  Animals are not objects but living beings that have feelings.  The disrespect of animals comes in all forms, from minor issues involving neglect to serious injuries, dog fighting and death. Whatever the extent, any offense against a living, breathing defenseless animals warrants no less than a felony offense.

The effort in this petition is to encourage Alaska State Legislators to implement stricter animal cruelty penalties that would ensure any and all offenses against an animal is classified as a felony.  Along with the felony offense and appropriate consequences, the offender would be listed as a registered animal abuser that would prevent future mistreatment, ownership and encounters with any animals for a lifetime, guaranteed.  Strict measurements need to be taken and fully enforced in order to put an end to such animal cruelty.  Please take a stand with me by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts, comments and support regarding the protection of animals.

Alaska State Legislators – I strongly urge you to implement stricter, more stringent penalties to anyone who harms an animal in any manner.  Any form of intentional animal abuse, cruelty and neglect needs to a felony with severe repercussions along with adding the offender on your animal cruelty registry for a lifetime.  Such offenders should also be banned from working with, caring for or ever again owning a pet since such persons are lacking in proper humane animal care, respect and compassion. This is the only way to finally put an end to the cruelty of poor defenseless beings.
