Tell CEO of Hyatt Regency Mark Hoplamazian that Manuu'i and Kimo deserve to live out the rest of their days at a sanctuary!

While on vacation in Honolulu, Hawaii with my fiancé this past August, I saw something heartbreaking. We had decided to browse some of the shops near Waikiki Beach and as we walked through the Hyatt Regency's lobby to get to the shops on the other side we noticed two blue and gold macaw parrots, each hidden in opposite corners of the lobby. As we walked up to the first cage, we noticed the plaque out front, it denoted the name of the parrot, Kimo. It said that he had been a part of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki 'Ohana since 2015. Kimo seemed very frightened and distrubed by us, and by all the noise and people walking busily about. We thought, "He must never get time to rest in peace and quiet." Then we walked across the lobby to visit the cage of the other blue and gold macaw parrot. As we walked up to him, it was clear he seemed much more distrubed than Kimo. It seemed he had went mad. After we read his plaque it was easy to see why. Manuu'i had been in that cage since 1988. That floored us both. At the time I was 26 years old and born in 1990. That meant that Manuu'i had been in that cage for around 28 years. I stopped for a moment and reflected on my life and on all of the things I had done in my 26 years. All the birthday parties I had had, all the friends I had made, all the trips I had taken, and in all that time Manuu'i had done one thing, sit in that cage. He had had no adventures, he had had no friends, he had had no life. It was clear to us that Manuu'i had gone crazy and that Kimo, who had only been there for two years, would soon suffer the same awful fate. In the wild macaws can live upwards of 50 years. We didn't know how old the macaws were, but we knew we didn't want Manuu'i or Kimo to suffer another day. They both deserve a life free from stress and misery and have no place in a hotel lobby. I believe it is time to tell CEO Mark Hoplamazian of the Hyatt Regency that Manuu'i and Kimo deserve to live out the rest of their days at a sanctuary. Please sign the petition if you agree.
