Immediate Call for Cease Fire

This is a petition by residents of Western Pennsylvania of diverse religions and ethnicities and nationalities - Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Israeli, Palestinian, Lebanese that requests from the US government and the state representatives to request an immediate cease fire and an end the suffering and targeting of civilians in Palestine, Israel and Lebanon. The petition also calls to all warring parties in the Middle East to stop immediately the cycle of violence and to participate in an International Peace Conference that will lead to an Internationally guaranteed just and equitable peace in the Middle-East.
An Open Letter to the President and Our Congressional Representatives

The current violence in Israel, Gaza, and Lebanon has caused hundreds of deaths, thousand injured, and hundred of thousands homeless, creating a humanitarian crisis of enormous proportions. It also ignited hatred and fear in many more millions around the world. Far from bringing peace closer, every day that this violence continues the hopes for peace are dimming, and the threat of an even wider conflict is increasing.
Thus, we residents of Western Pennsylvania of diverse religions and nationalities - Muslim, Jewish, Christian; Israeli, Palestinian, Lebanese – have come together to call for an end of violence on all sides.

  • We call on all warring parties in the Middle-East to stop immediately the cycle of violence and to participate in an International Peace Conference that will lead to an internationally guaranteed just and equitable peace in the Middle-East, one that assures the rights of all peoples in the region to, safety, freedom, justice, and self-determination.

  • We request that the United States immediately to take on the role of peace mediator, and work with the international community to obtain such a cease fire, the installation of an international peace keeping force in the area, and the establishment of a Peace Conference.

  • In view of the apparent targeting of civilians in these regions, we also call on the United States to request an investigation into such crimes by an international body with the power to indict those responsible.

It is obvious that peace cannot be achieved by military attacks or by unilateral actions. A cease fire must occur and intense negotiation must be resumed, and we believe that the United States must play a key role.

Time is of the essence. Please act now to stop the killing and suffering.
