Tell Governor Parnell: Protect the Mat-Su Valley from Coal Development!

Three coal companies want to turn 20,000 acres of the Mat-Su Valley into a giant coal strip mine to ship our coal overseas.

Big Coal and their lobbyists are working overtime in Juneau in order to convince Governor Parnell that the health, safety, property, and outdoor way of life of Alaskans in the Valley doesn't matter when it comes to their profits.

Don't let Big Coal destroy the Matsu-Valley and disregard the health, safety, property, and land just so they can reap huge profits.

Add your name to the petition to Governor Parnell asking him to say no to coal development in the Mat-Su Valley!
Subject: Protect the Matanuska Valley from coal development!

Dear Governor Parnell,

The Mat-Su Valley is a growing and vibrant community filled with many economic opportunities, abundant hunting, fishing, and recreational access. However, we are concerned about the negative impacts of the proposed coal mining projects in the Matanuska Moose Range.

Thousands of families live within miles of the 3 proposed mines spanning 20,000 acres of the Matanuska Valley, and will be disturbed by the constant blasting, toxic coal dust, and hundreds of trucks that will congest our roads. We have already started to see the negative economic impacts with banks denying home loans.

After the coal is mined it will be trucked through our communities to be exported overseas, causing negative impacts and the burden of the mines to spread across the entire Mat-Su.

Please protect our families and our property by saying "no" to coal development in the Matanuska Valley.
