Sudan Divestment Oxford

We believe that what investments Oxford University and its colleges have in Sudan should be removed, in order that we put pressure on the Sudanese government to end the genocide of Sudanese people.

Sudan Divestment: OXFORD

· There is a humanitarian crisis occurring in the Darfur region in Sudan, a humanitarian crisis that has killed over 400.000 civilians, and displaced over 2.5 million civilians since February 2003.

· It costs large amounts of money to sustain the operation of the janjaweed militia and Sudanese army in Darfur.

· Foreign investment has been of great importance in enabling the heavily indebted Sudanese government to finance its military policy of genocide.

· Oxford’s colleges and institutions may hold investments in companies which financially support the Sudanese government

· We believe that what investments Oxford University and its colleges have in Sudan should be removed, in order that we put pressure on the Sudanese government to end the genocide of Sudanese people.

Is it justified for students’ fees to be invested indirectly in genocide?
