Get Our Money Back from Bankers: Pass a Financial Speculation Tax

The people who gave us the financial crisis are at it again.

The greed and irresponsibility of Wall Street tycoons demolished our economy, leaving us to bail them out -- and how do they thank us? They're going right back to business as usual, getting rich off of our money and spending millions lobbying against new rules that would prevent future crises.

Around the country, starting from New York's Liberty Plaza, people are standing up and saying enough is enough. It's time for banks to be a safe place for our money, not another place to get nickel-and-dimed.

One way to make banks be more responsible is to discourage the kind of risky investment schemes that caused the financial crisis in the first place.

Urge Congress to pass a financial speculation tax and rein in Wall Street greed.
Dear [Decision Maker],

I'm writing you to show my support for a financial speculation tax on the banks. We need to be discouraging the risky investments that played a part in starting this recession.

Banks should be a safe place for our money. The Wall Street banks treat our money like it's theirs. Charging us fees for everything, and then losing what's left on risky investments. Then when they got in trouble with those investments, they asked US for a bailout.

It's time to rein in the banks. Please pass a financial speculation tax.
