We demand full funding for full time librarians in every school and $20 per student to buy books and resources

Seattle Schools are underfunded with a budget shortfall of over $40 million. The district is proposing cuts to existing full time librarians at a time when we are trying to bring our schools to the standard of a full time, qualified librarian in every school. Currently elementary schools only have .5 funding for librarians. The district has other cuts in mind that we also oppose. We need to lift the levy lid so that Seattle Schools can access the money that has already been voted for in the recent levy. Beyond raising the levy lid we need a better long term solution to school funding starting with a capital gains tax.
