Warren Buffet Says, "Tax Me More!"

Warren Buffett, the American business magnate and philanthropist, is widely regarded as one of the most successful investors in the world. During these belt-tightening times, what does he have to say about how Congress will cut the 10-year budget by over $2 trillion?

"Our leaders have asked for 'shared sacrifice.' But when they did the asking, they spared me...and while most Americans struggle to make ends meet, we mega-rich continue to get our extraordinary tax breaks."

It is tragic beyond words that so many hard-working Americans born without boundless opportunities, cultural capital, and educational potential are the ones who so intimately bear the burden of our government's bad choices in their daily lives.

Senator Bernie Sanders is currently promoting a bill that will demolish special tax breaks for the rich. Sign this petition to tell Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid protect hard-working American families and bring this bill before Congress!
Dear Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid:

There's been a lot of talk lately about austerity and the need to buckle down and make due with less.

As things currently stand, however, it's the struggling middle and lower classes who have to do this. The wealthy continue to enjoy the vast majority of their excessive wealth via lower federal tax rates. In 1992, the top 400 wealthiest Americans had a taxable income of $16.9 billion and enjoyed rates at 29.2 percent. Sixteen years later in 2008, the total income of this group soared to $90.9 billion, but the tax rate had fallen to 21.5 percent.

It is tragic beyond words that so many hard-working Americans born without boundless opportunities, cultural capital, and educational potential are the ones who so intimately bear the burden of our government's bad choices in their daily lives.

Senator Bernie Sanders is currently promoting a bill that will demolish special tax breaks for the rich, bringing in an additional $50 billion a year in revenue. As Warren Buffett himself recently said, "My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress. It's time for our government to get serious about shared sacrifice."

Make the right decision, and bring this bill before Congress so that everybody can start tightening their belts and paving the way for a more prosperous future for every American.

Sincerely,
