Ban Canada's Seal Hunts

Canada's 2003 seal hunt has been the most brutal since 1971, with almost 353,000 seals beaten or shot to death. Over the next three years (including this year), 350,000 more seals will be murdered each year, totalling over one million.
This year, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) went to document the shocking brutality that is allowed to take place every year on Canada's Atlantic coast in Newfoundland. What they witnessed was horrifying. Sealers beating seals (some pups) with clubs, some even laughing while doing it. Babies have to watch their mother being clubbed to death, and must wait their turn because most of them are too young to swim yet. Afterwards, thousands of bloody carcasses lay in piles, some still alive and crying. An IFAW seal team leader stated she witnessed seals being skinned alive;sealers are required to perform an eye-blink test to confirm the seal is dead before skinning it, however, Rebecca, the leader, reported that almost no sealer performed the test. This disgusting, sanguineous practice must come to an end. Please sign and help the seals!
