Jeff Wood is sitting on Death Row in Texas charged with Capital Murder under the Law of Parties.  Jeff never actually killed anyone, nor did he conspire to kill anyone.

There were several mistakes made during Jeff's trial that erred in the jury coming to a sentence of death.

Jeff has several mental illnesses that have been diganosed by doctors.

We ask that you please commute Jeff's sentence based on these facts, and save him from death.

I believe after reading the case summary that to put this man to death by lethal injection would be wrong. The law of parties is an unjust law that needs to be seriously looked at by our State Represantatives. More publicity needs to be put out there about the law and the people that either await execution or are in prison for capital murder due to it.

I have known Jeff Wood, and his family since we were sophomores attending Devine High School together after he was transfered to my school. Like many students he struggled to find his place in the grand scheme of things that we call life. Perhaps he did not always choose the correct path. Growing up is tough, and not everyone is given the tools and skills that are necessary to "fit in" in our society. Jeff had it harder than most in some respects, and he made some poor choices; however, he is no killer, and should not be put to death. The Texas Penal Justice System should focus on rehabilitation, on teaching the increasing number of incarcerated youths the value of life, of right living, not reinforcing the old adage that "might makes right" through court sanctioned murder.

I would ask you to reconsider giving the death penalty to someone who did not kill anyone. If the ABC news article is true, it states that it was his room mate who did the killing, and Jeff only ran in when he heard something going on. Which one of us wouldn't have run in and been scared to death if our room mate had done that? I am so sorry that he was involved, yet can't believe that Texas would give the death penalty to someone who didn't even murder anyone!? Thanks for allowing me to give my opinion.

I do not believe Jeff was in anyway aware of the end result of this tragic crime. I beleive in the death penalty for those involved who are mentally aware of what is happening. This was not the case with Jeff.

Until I read about Jeff Wood I would never have dreamed that a law like this existed in the United States. Executing someone who did NOT kill the person? Executing someone who was not in the room when the murder was committed, presumably with no knowledge that it was taking place? How barbaric. I'm chilled that a law like this exists in this day and age. I believe in the death penalty but this case crosses the line for me.

The Death sentence should be for those who actually shot the gun.. I know that this gentleman was there at the time of the murder, but he did not pull the trigger.

The Law of Parties is an abomination. Jeff Wood did not "anticipate" a murder or anything else. His low IQ does not enable him to plan ahead, only to follow the directions of others.

it only seems right that the man that commited the crime was executed. Whyis this man being killed because of action of another. That makes no sense at all. it is always guilt by association. the Laws should not be the same. he gets the death penalty and you have child killers and molestors rapist out here that only get 4 to 5 years on a sentence why cant you keep this man alive he did not pull the trigger he was just with the man that did. Doesnt make him guilty.

Please halt the execution the Jeff Wood. He is not a murderer and a prison sentence is much more just. He didn't kill anyone and doesn't deserve to die for someone else's crime.

If he is innocent, granting him clemency offers he and his friends and family the time they need to "prove" his innocence - and that is something the innocent should never have to do, yet it is something that has nearly become commonplace these days. The time has come to change and Jeff Wood, and his loving family, need that time. Please grant clemency to Jeff Wood, and to his family. His death only causes more sorrow in the world and frees him from it.

I have read that evidence used against Reneau in his trial, presented by the witness Nadia Mireles, which implied that Wood instructed Reneau not to bring a gun, and was unaware that Reneau did, was barred from being displayed at Wood's trial. Also there are many claims that Wood was not mentally competent to stand trial and that he was effectively undefended during his trial (though at his own desire). I am not a lawyer but this all seems to me to be very strange and unjust.

How can you execute ? Does nobody even consider the lost of the family from Jeff ? He's also a son or grand child or brother or uncle !! People should not kill but how can you execute somebody and say this isn't murder ? You should be a shame of yourself !! What if it's your kid Gov. Perry and he makes a mistake ? Would you also decide this easy to give him the Death Penalty ?

I believe that everybody is accountable for their own actions. To be sentenced to death for a crime committed by someone else, to me, seems the complete opposite of justice. Jeff Wood did actively involve himself in this robbery, and should be punished accordingly. However, he did not personally commit a crime that warrants the death penalty. The Law of Parties is in my opinion one of the most unjust laws that exists today and needs to be abolished.

Please grant clemency to Jeff Wood. It would be a gross miscarriage of justice to execute a man who DID NOT commit the murder and was FORCED to participate against his will as an unknowing accomplice, not fully comprehending what might transpire--guilt by forced association. Jeff has ALREADY served more than enough time on Death Row for his involvement in this crime and should be set free. Please carefully review and consider the extenuating circumstances in Jeff's case, along with the facts about his personal history, and grant him clemency.
