Jeff Wood is sitting on Death Row in Texas charged with Capital Murder under the Law of Parties.  Jeff never actually killed anyone, nor did he conspire to kill anyone.

There were several mistakes made during Jeff's trial that erred in the jury coming to a sentence of death.

Jeff has several mental illnesses that have been diganosed by doctors.

We ask that you please commute Jeff's sentence based on these facts, and save him from death.

Please do not execute individuals who have mental illness. This is equivalent to executing children. People who are poor deserve better lawyers to represent them.

I think Jeff Wood should be released from prison. He was not given a fair and impartial trail; the Kerrville District Attorney made sure of that. If I could, I would make the have entire Kerrville police department and the district attorney serve the same sentence as Jeff, as they are responsible for the pain and mental anguish he has suffered the last 12 years. They knew that Jeff was not responsible for the murder, but they kept him awake, denied him food and water, and led him into the confession they wanted taking advantage of the learning disability they knew he had. I had several different police officers tell me that Jeff was a trouble maker. They said that “anybody who listened to rap music and agreed with the “gangster” lifestyle was a troublemaker, and needed to be put into prison as Kerrville was a country town and there was no place for that crap here.” I know what you are thinking, and YES they said that. They were completely discriminating against him because he listened to rap music. I wish I had the forethought to get their badge numbers, but I did not want to cause anymore trouble. These officers were extremely rude, and I wish there was a way to uncover the TRUTH about the Kerrville Police Department, and bring this injustice to the attention of all Texans. For this and MANY other reasons, the Kerrville police department should be investigated. It seems as if the whole department is corrupt, and they do “weed out those that do not fit their stereotype of the white cowboy.” Please, I ask that you take the time to review all of the facts. Unfortunately, you will not get that from the records alone. You will need to do your own investigation, and call the witnesses that were never heard, the ones who were silenced and not allowed to provide the truth to the court and the jury. Please let my son go; he is innocent of murder. Jeff would NOT hurt anyone. Yes he made a mistake but he was just trying to protect his daughter, and my family. Jeff is a good father and husband; please allow him the opportunity to live to be just that. Thanks for your time and attention to this matter.

The intended purpose of the "Law of Parties" is to ensure that criminal masterminds are treated in the same way as the persons who actually execute the crime. Mr. Wood does not meet the criteria of a criminal mastermind. He is a mentally ill person who came into the scene after the murder had been committed and was then compelled under duress to comply with orders given to him at gunpoint by the murdered. This is a gross misapplication of this law and a gross misapplication of the death penalty. The victim's family has stated that they feel this is a misapplication of the criminal justice system. I implore you to grant Mr. Wood clemency and to commute his sentence. -Nathan E H Williams

I just do not understand how the state of Texas can commit worse crimes (murder) against citizens who have committed lesser crimes...the State of Texas and all other states that uphold the law of parties are just trying to find ways to legally murder their own citizens, and i think it is dreadful, and makes me question the entire justice system.

Dear Sir, The law of parties, as it is applied here, seems to not serve its intended purpose. I have a hard time believing, when looking at the information about the crime, that Mr. Wood is the "mastermind" of the crime, somebody who anticipated, accepted and promoted the death of an innocent man who was working hard that night when he was robbed. By no means is Mr. Wood innocent, don't get me wrong, but the application of the death penalty appears cruel and unusual to me in this case. Please look at the facts and reconsider whether you feel that the application of the death penalty in this case is the within spirit of the law of parties.

Jeff Wood is not responsible for this poor man's death. Murdering him would serve absolutely no useful purpose. Another answer must be found; an intelligent society would not execute this man.

Executing Jeff Woods will not serve any purpose. He was not involved in the actual shooting; only for being involved with the wrong people. Please have mercy on this young man.
