Overview
In 1997 the City of Ottawa denied an application for the above-noted premises to operate a “body rub parlour” under the City’s licensing by-laws. The City noted that its continued operation was adverse to the public interest.
Despite this fact, the business continues to operate without a license, contrary to By-Law 2002-189, Schedule 20, relating to Body-Rub parlour locations. This business also operates in close proximity to local schools and places of worship.
What Action Is Required?
The City needs to enforce its by-laws and previous decisions taken by both the City of Ottawa License Committee and City Council. Prosecution of this business under the previously mentioned by-law will ensure that this unwelcome business in our community can no longer operate illegally.
What Can I Do To Help As A Concerned Neighbour/Resident?
Pressure needs to be applied to the City’s By-Law Services Department and the local City Councillor in order to commence the enforcement of the City’s by-laws and previous decisions relating to this illegal business. Please sign the attached petition, which will be presented to the Department and our Councillor once an appropriate number of signatures is attained.
