Save DC's Cathedral Care Pharmacy

Cathedral Care Pharmacy--a neighborhood institution serving Woodley and Cleveland Parks for nearly 90 years--is in danger of being forced out of business by the pharmacy Goliath CVS Caremark.
Often criticized by consumer groups for coercive business practices, CVS tried to buy out Cathedral Care last year, but owner Mike Madden refused to sell. Now CVS is using a small auditing error that Mike concedes making to deny him the right to continue filling prescriptions for customers under the Caremark drug plan, which insures Federal workers. Mike faces bankruptcy by the loss of several thousand customers.
We, the residents of Woodley and Cleveland Parks, can stop this. We can help a local business that has been a mainstay of our communities since Calvin Coolidge was president by letting CVS Caremark know that our loss will not be its gain.
This fight is about community values: How many corporate chains like CVS greet you by name, deliver prescriptions to you door or help sponsor community events? This fight is also about consumer choice: Some of us patronize CVS; others Cathedral Care. That's your choice as a consumer. CVS has no right to deprive you of it.
Regardless of which pharmacy you patronize, if you reside in our communities, please sign our petition urging CVS Caremark to rescind its decision to terminate its prescription drug contract with Cathedral Care Pharmacy.
Thank you.
We, the undersigned residents of Woodley and Cleveland Parks, urge CVS Caremark to rescind its decision to terminate its prescription drug contract with Cathedral Care Pharmacy, one of our most respected and revered community merchants for nearly nine decades.
Cathedral Care Pharmacy has earned our respect the hard and long way: by being here, and caring for us, from generation to generation. Some of us fill our prescriptions at CVS; others at Cathedral Care. Most of us patronize both establishments, but all of us appreciate the consumer choice this affords us and none of us appreciates the loss of that choice that is likely to result from your decision to revoke Cathedral Care's right to fill Caremark prescriptions. Simply put: We value values--and would reject in our neighborhood the presence of any merchant who doesn't do the same. Please prove us wrong in this judgment. Please restore Cathedral Care Pharmacy as a Caremark prescription provider.
