End Toxic Chemicals in Tampons and Pads: Demand Action from the FDA

Each year, millions of menstruators rely on tampons, sanitary pads, and other menstrual products. However, these products are exposing millions of people to dangerous chemicals that could harm reproductive health and contribute to chronic diseases. Studies have found concerning levels of heavy metals like lead and arsenic, along with harmful chemicals like phthalates and PFAS, in some tampons and menstruation products. Despite the growing concern, there is no federal regulation to ensure the safety of these products.

Studies show these chemicals disrupt our endocrine systems, causing long-term risks to health. The presence of arsenic and lead in organic and non-organic tampons alone raises red flags, and without proper regulation, the long-term effects remain unknown.

The lack of comprehensive oversight from the FDA means that many tampons and menstrual products continue to be sold with dangerous chemicals, putting the health of those who use them at risk.

Consumers deserve products that are safe and free from harmful substances, especially when they are used in such an absorbent area of the body.
