Remove Alleged Domestic Abuser Johnny Depp from Fantastic Beasts, Hire Kit Harington Instead!

The first official cast photo for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, a Harry Potter spinoff film, was just released, with Johnny Depp cast as Grindelwald.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and with the onslaught of harassment and abuse allegations coming out of Hollywood, it's important to remember Johnny Depp's history of domestic violence allegations. We must stop rewarding men who cause people close to them so much harm.

In 2016, Depp's ex-wife Amber Heard made allegations that Depp physically and verbally abused her during their divorce proceedings (Depp denied it).

Her accusations were backed up by Depp's former financial managers at The Management Group (TMG), who also filed a suit against Depp. TMG alleged that "[Joel Mandel, one of the managers] was informed well after the fact through communications with various house staff and security that Depp had been extremely volatile and had sometimes 'gotten physical' with Heard." They also said that "Mandel was also later informed that Depp had violently kicked Heard during an incident that took place in or around 2014."

The divorce has been settled, and Heard donated her financial proceeds from the divorce to charity.

The release date for the new Fantastic Beasts film won't be given for a year, and filming is in progress. It's not too late to replace an abuser with a more worthy actor.
