Free Taylor Swift, the Eastern Bongo Who Tried to Escape the Sacramento Zoo!

Taylor Swift is a young eastern bongo calf who lives in captivity at the Sacramento Zoo. This week, she decided to make a break for freedom by fleeing the enclosure where she and her mom, Penny, live.

It's clear the 1-year-old antelope is unhappy in captivity. That's why we're asking the Sacramento Zoo to free Taylor Swift and Penny and send them to a sanctuary now.

Taylor's great escape was discovered when a zoo worker noticed she was missing from her pen. It's unclear how long Taylor was out of her enclosure. After closing the zoo, workers were able to locate Taylor and guide her back to a holding area. She had a few cuts, but no major injuries.

The Critically Endangered eastern bongo is a shy and nocturnal species that is rarely seen by humans. It's hard to imagine that such an elusive creature enjoys being put on display for human amusement all day long. Perhaps that's why Taylor Swift tried to escape the zoo. Something definitely wasn't right for her.

On top of that, keeping animals in zoos is just bad for animals, plain and simple. Wild animals need ample space to roam, to run, to forage, and to explore. Taylor Swift deserves better.

Please join in demanding that the Sacramento Zoo do the right thing and release Taylor Swift and Penny to a sanctuary now!
