Fast-fashion giant Shein has no place in the Paris fashion scene.That's what locals, employees, and politicians
are saying, and we're writing this petition to throw our support behind them.
On November 1, 2025,
environmental nightmare and labor rights abuser Shein plans to open a physical store in one of Paris' most historic, iconic locations -- the BHV Marais.
With a track record of immense pollution, horrific labor rights violations, and a general cheapening of what fashion is and stands for, Shein needs to be kept out of this department store!Sign the petition if you don't want to see Shein in the BHV Marais, or in any physical locations period!Employees at the BHV Marais have already staged a walkout protest, leaving their shifts to stand against Shein's intrusion. Their claims:
Shein goes against everything they believe the fashion industry should be, namely "corporate social responsibility."
In 2023, Shein
gained the title of
biggest polluter in the fashion industry, and emissions have only
increased in years since. Known for its hundreds of thousands of designs at unbelievably low prices, Shein's massive production scale doesn't just create horrific amounts of pollution and waste -- it also has a human toll.
Shein has come under fire for using
child labor, implementing excessive working hours (as many as 75 hours per week), and paying abhorrently low wages. This is part of why their prices are so unbelievable -- it comes at the price of humans' rights.
So it makes total sense that Parisians, department store employees, and even politicians would want to keep Shein out of the city's highly historic and important locations. The BHV Marais was built in 1856.
Paris is a leader of the fashion industry, and we commend the city's commitment to leading in 2025 with sustainability, responsibility, and accountability in mind!That's why we're addressing Shein directly. We want to send a strong message to Shein founder and CEO Chris Xu: keep Shein out of the BHV Marais.
