Demand the US and Australia Stop Obstructing Efforts for Corporate Transparency at UN Climate Talks

The fossil fuel lobby could be forced to declare interests at UN climate change talks, according to a report in The Guardian.

A push from developing countries to force fossil fuel lobbyists taking part in UN climate talks to declare their position has won a significant battle against resistance from the US and Australia. Australia and the US have been championing the role of fossil fuel companies in helping to craft climate change policy.

Now, the UN framework convention on climate change has agreed to enhance "openness and transparency" for outside parties. It's a big win for the countries who pushed for this obviously necessary level of disclosure. But it's unconscionable that the United States, Australia and other huge contributors to climate pollution are continuing to put the needs of polluters ahead of the needs of people.
