Pass the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019 Now!

They were watching a movie in Aurora. They were learning to read in Newtown. They were celebrating in San Bernardino. They were dancing in Orlando. They were listening to music in Las Vegas. They were praying in Sutherland Springs. They were in class in Parkland. And they were celebrating a new baby in Pittsburgh.

And then they were killed by a military-style assault rifle. This has to stop. Sign on to help end the violence.

Military-style assault rifles are designed to kill a lot of people really quickly. That is their sole purpose, and that is why they are used so often in mass shootings. Seven out of the 10 mass shooting incidents with the highest number of people killed and wounded in the U.S. involved a military-style assault rifle. It's horrifying.

An assault weapons ban was in place for 10 years in the United States before Congress let it expire in 2004. In the 15 years since the NRA stopped the ban from being reauthorized, the death toll has spiked significantly. It's time to bring that type of law back to life.

We need our elected leaders to take action, and their response must be powerful and strong to reverse this as quickly as possible.

Sign this petition to tell the new Congress to pass S. 66, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019. Together we can protect our families and communities from gun violence.
