Change us back to the Blacksburg Indians

We the undersigned call on the Montgomery County School Board and Superintendent to reinstate the Indian as the mascot of Blacksburg High School. We want to re-establish the proud tradition of honoring the Native American Indian as it was initially intended. We feel that this action is past due. The Indian is a proud, strong and brave symbol - seen only as a tribute to those who were here on this land before us. Montgomery County is full of Native American history and culture, not bruins as are found on the West Coast. The long-standing tradition of being a BHS Indian, and the legacy that entails should be worth more than the objections of a few individuals who no longer live in this county. Please re-instate the BHS Indian!
