Stop MPS Teacher Layoffs!

On June 12, 2010, Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) laid off 482 teachers, 223 educational assistants and 568 substitute teachers to the detriment of tens of thousands of Milwaukee school children. Given this crucial time of transition in MPS leadership, we, the undersigned concerned citizens of Milwaukee, petition Superintendent Gregory Thornton and the Milwaukee Board of School Directors to revise the 2010-2011 budget in the best interest of our students by immediately restoring all laid-off educators to their original positions by calling an emergency full board meeting no later than July 15, 2010.
