Keep Professor Peter C. Valenti at Rutgers!

Rutgers University budget cuts have been significantly affecting the quality of education its students receive, lowering the standard of high quality education by cutting teachers to "save" money to fit a budget. By depriving its students of exemplary teachers, who motivate students in learning, lowers the standard of education expected from a higher learning institution such as Rutgers.

Professor Peter C. Valenti IS that teacher who captivates his students. He provides his students with the quality of education expected by a college university. He has brought to Rutgers a new outlook on history to his students, demonstrates it with great sincerity, and with respect to all parties involved. Additionally, he articulately presents lectures with passion, and motivates the whole class in discussions about history. While maintaining organization, adding creativity and humor, along with detailed instructions of the criteria of his courses and other work he asks of his students. Also, he makes himself readily available to students who wish to discuss issues further or simply have a chat. He makes his students excited to come to class. Every student at Rutgers should have the opportunity to experience a class with Professor Valenti.

Unfortunately, Professor Valenti's contract is up this Spring 2010 and there is a possibility that he may not return to the university in the fall due to the "budget". For those of you who have had Professor Valenti know the quality of education he provides for his students. For those who unfortunately have not had him yet, may not get that chance to experience the inspiring dialogue from his lectures.

Tell Chair of History Department James Masschaele, Vice-Chair Jennifer Jones, and President of Rutgers University Richard L. McCormick, not to cut our teachers demand room in the budget to keep Professor Peter C. Valenti. Sign this and tell Rutgers that you will not sit back and accept these cuts quietly.

Budget cuts to the University are to be expected especially with the installation of the new Governor who easily sacrifices education without remorse. Though there are many obstacles the University faces, we humbly thank you in your efforts to keep Professor Peter C. Valenti on the faculty roaster at Rutgers. He raises the quality of education which is expected from this institution and we the undersigned are extremely grateful for your reconsideration.

After, observing Professor Valenti's passion towards his field as a student that makes a truly inspiring vision to witness. His humility, readiness to help, intelligence, and ability to captivate his students about history makes Professor Valenti a wonderful teacher and a valuable asset to the University. As you know we have started this petition in order to keep an outstanding professor at this prestigious institution and we end it thankful that our pleas have been heard. The following comments address the situation before the continuation of Professor Valenti's attendance at Rutgers with hopes to renew his stay here. Hopefully, these efforts will continue in good favor towards Professor Valenti for an extended future at the university.
