Yes to the stadium, but build it somewhere else!

FEMSA, a multibillion international beverage company whose beer business was recently acquired by Heineken is about to tear down over 60 acres of La Pastora, a State Park that houses the last old-growth forest in Monterrey, Mexico, to build a third soccer stadium and mall in the city.

The stadium would be a massive and exclusive distribution center of Heineken products, and would irreversibly damage the remaining 320 acres of the State Park, its river and remarkable biodiversity.

The stadium can change its location; the unique species of animals that inhabit this place, the forest and river cannot.

Please join our campaign to protect the animals, the forest and its river by sending the following Urgent Action request to Sietze Montijn, Head of Social Responsibility at Heineken, Carolina Alvear, Head of Communications at FEMSA, and Mexican governor Rodrigo Medina.

Thank you for distributing this message!

I strongly oppose the destruction of La Pastora Forest by FEMSA, Heineken and the State of Nuevo Leon.

I vehemently oppose the irrevocable damage of a natural, public space and the deprivation of hundreds of unique species of their habitat.

I strongly oppose the use of public resources for private exploitation.

The recent tragic experience of hurricane Alex in the same city should give lessons on where not to build in the city of Monterrey, and demonstrated the unsustainability of construction so close to the nearby river.
