Reducing waste into landfill by Recycling Batteries

The average Canadian owns approximately 25 battery-reliant devices. Without a doubt, devices that use batteries are a part of everyday lives. However, almost all the sold batteries are dumped into our landfill without proper disposal. The heavy metals inside each battery are harmful to our environment and create health concerns if water and foods are consumed  from metal pollutions.  I am petitioning to spread awareness and encourage everyone to recycle used batteries. Please help me spread the awareness and reduce the waste into our landfill.
This petition will also be sent to member of GVRD directors  requesting and encourage  them to set up battery recycling program in local communities and schools.
