Mozambique Harbours ill intent

There is huge concern about the impact on the environment both on land and to the reefs caused by the impact of the proposed Ponto Techobanine coal harbour complex especially the impact to the iSimangaliso Worl Heritage site on the border of South Africa and Mozambique.

Lawyers acting for local SA environmental groups have written to the SA government to urge ministers to use diplomatic pressure to dissuade Mozambique from going ahead with the harbour plan until all the environmental, social and economic costs have been examined at a regional level.

We need you to ask / demand and ensure that the Ponta Techobanine plan is sub-jected to a “credible, independent environmental impact assessment (EIA)” along with full disclosure of the harbour plans locally and internationally.
