Sign your name in support of changing Portsmouth High’s grading scale and unweighted GPA

Because colleges receive more applications each year, they have less time to review. Using a 7-point scale gives other students using a 10-point scale an unfair advantage. It relies on admission staff to read further, recalculate or have knowledge of PHS's grading scale. This puts our students at a disadvantage. In addition, college costs have never been higher, and many families rely on Merit Scholarships to fund attendance. The 7-point grading scale and unweighted GPA means our students miss out on thousands of dollars for college. Please sign your name in support of Portsmouth High School changing its scale to a 10-point, traditional one as well as ensure that the GPA becomes a weighted one. These changes would help ALL students become more competitive for college admission and for merit scholarships. PHS kids deserve nothing less.
