Deer Populations in America Are at Serious Risk of These Devastating Diseases

A shocking number of deer are dying from two brutal diseases. In Ohio, the rate of disease spread is so bad that one local told reporters he found 14 dead deer in less than a mile stretch on his property.

Diseases like chronic wasting disease (CWD) and epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) have posed a small threat to local deer populations for decades. But now that the climate is getting worse, the small bugs responsible for transmitting the disease are surviving later into the fall months and beginning biting earlier each spring.

Luckily, there are organizations that can – and should – do something about this.

Sign now to tell the National Deer Association: it's time to fund vaccines for wildlife to stop the spread of this brutal disease!

The impacts of these diseases are catastrophic. In Ohio alone, the number of sick and dead deer reported to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources quadrupled between 2024 and 2025. This statistic should terrify all of us.

Not only does this devastate local deer populations, causing them to suffer unnecessarily, it also impacts local economies dependent on hunting seasons. Many Ohioans are already feeling the burden, with one local family describing losing over $15,000.

Currently, money that is put into hunting must be used to fund conservation programs.

The National Deer Association needs to step up and fund lifesaving vaccines to protect local deer populations before it is too late! Sign the petition if you agree!
